Illusion is a custom-built private villa rental nestled in the gated resort community of the very popular Sugar Hill Resort. Sugar Hill is located inland slightly north of Holetown on the West Coast of Barbados and famed for the West Coast beaches, excellent shopping and renowned restaurants.
The luxurious Sandy Lane Hotel inspired the design of Illusion and the result was a breathtaking villa, which combines elegance with contemporary design in impressive style. As you walk through the large glass front doors you are greeted by an uninterrupted vista of the Caribbean Sea. The foyer spills out onto a covered terrace that overlooks the large swimming pool and dual staircases that lead down to the pool area. To the left of the covered terrace is the formal dining room and to the right is the master suite.
The dining room is spacious and cool with a large glass table that seats twelve persons. The room itself transforms into an alfresco dining area as three walls of folding glass doors open up to a wrap-around balcony allowing you to dine amongst swaying mahogany trees and travelers palms. Right off the dining room is the well-outfitted kitchen. The kitchen has abundant space, easily accommodating two wine coolers, a number of stainless steel appliances and a dumb waiter designed to facilitate the hassle-free transfer of meals to the external dining area on the pool level.
On the lower level of Illusion is a tastefully designed living room with the solo purpose of being a comfortable place to relax. It is equipped with a large flat-screen television with smart TV, DVD player, Sonos surround system and a bar for your convenience. It is an open plan room, which leads through a number of arches onto the pool deck. The pool deck has numerous loungers, a barbecue and two gazebos - both gazebos are outfitted with Sonos surround sound system. One gazebo has a small outdoor kitchenette and the other gazebo has an informal dining area. The pool area is an ideal place to lounge, take cooling dips in the pool, listen to music, sip on cocktails and enjoy barbecue for lunch or dinner.
All of the bedroom suites are air-conditioned, have private covered terraces, en suite bathrooms and a security safe. The bedroom suites are equally proportioned with the majority located on the ground floor of Illusion. The master suite is on the first floor and features a second living room, a large flat-screen television with smart TV, DVD player and Sonos surround system. The master suite also has a large walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom that includes a tub and separate shower. The king size bed allows you to lounge in bed and have a view of the sea.

We have had a fabulous three week stay here. We have been visiting Barbados for over 30 years and this house has been exceptional. The staff have been very attentive. Judy keeps the place spotless and is fun to chat with. Our Butler Ian and Chef Mark definitely put in so much effort. We cancelled a few of our dinner reservations because the food was far superior. We do hope to return to Illusion in the future.

What a magnificent week in paradise. First class accommodations at Illusion, St. James, Barbados. The home and its ocean views are simply breath taking. The staff were kind, cheerful and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed the pool to cool down after enjoying tennis at the clubhouse. This was a holiday my wife and I will never forget.
The villa is lovely and clean and well situated. The staff was perfection. I would like to commend Emma, Anthony and Tamara for going above and beyond our expectations. They are extraordinarily kind and made us feel at home. Without them the trip would not have been the same. We look forward to coming back!
My family and I have just had the immense pleasure of staying at the luxurious Barbados villa, Sugar Hill - Illusion for a week. The physical setting is spectacular and beyond beautiful. The pool at Illusion is not only very inviting but also safe for both children and adults.
Overall extremely happy with everything. The villa is amazing but the staff are even better. Heather's cooking is simply the best ever and Grantley is truly wonderful.
Having stayed in many villas and hotels in Barbados, Illusion is most definitely the best. We have spent six glorious weeks in this lovely home, being looked after by the amazing staff in five star luxury with five star service. The staff have tendered to our every whim with such enthusiasm and always a lovely smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The Chef, wow can this guy cook, we had The Cliff type meals every time, first holiday we have eaten in more times than we have eaten out.
